The Surrounding Area                                

Inverroy is a peaceful rural village with few houses and an abundance of nature nestled between Roybridge and Spean Bridge.  It is only a short drive to Fort William town centre and the boarding point of the Harry Potter Jacobite Steam Train – Hogwarts Express www.westcoastrailways.co.uk .   Also enjoyable is the pleasant drive to the city of Inverness stopping off at the glorious Urquhart Castle www.historicenvironment.scot .  Inverroy is positioned midway between Perth on the east and the Isle of Skye in the West, both under a two-hour drive.

The Nevis Ski Resort on Aonach Mor in the Nevis Range, visible from the balcony at Allt Mor, is home to the Mountain Bike World Cup and Go Ape Treetop Challenge, both of which are close by www.nevisrange.co.uk . The Glen Nevis resort and the majestic Ben Nevis (1344m), the highest mountain in the UK, are just down the road.

Also nearby is Glen Roy, National Nature Reserve, noted for its dramatic effects of the glazier ice shifts. Parallel lines of ice shifts are clearly visible and definitely worth a visit www.nnr.scot

Fort William and the greater Lochaber Area is the official ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK’. It offers a large selection of local activities and attractions such as Walking, Climbing, Fishing, Cycling, Skiing, and Canoeing to name only a few.

Local Amenities

The village of Roybridge is 1 mile up the road. Roybridge train station serves the Caledonian sleeper which has a direct daily connection with London Euston and Fort William.  Spean Bridge station (2 miles) is the last stop before Fort William.  The West Highland Train Line serving Glasgow to Fort William and Oban is considered to be one of the most scenic rail journeys in the world – www.scotrail.co.uk .   We also have a local bus service (510 ) which runs twice a day to Fort William and stops outside the house.  It runs from Roybridge, Spean Bridge to Fort William.  Just wave your hand and the driver will happily stop for you – www.shielbuses.co.uk .

Roybridge Village has a local café that doubles up as an information hub for the Lochaber Geopark  https://lochabergeopark.org.uk . The village also has an electric vehicle charging station, two hotels serving drinks and meals and a community hall hosting local events.

Spean Bridge is on the main A82 arterial route to Inverness and Skye and several citylink buses stop here – www.citylink.co.uk . Spean has several places to eat and drink for example The Bridge Café which is very affordable and offers good wholesome Scottish fayre or Russell’s Restaurant renowned for its numerous merits for local produce and quality of service, and is perfect for special occasions or romantic dining.  In Spean Bridge you will also find the local ‘Spar’ supermarket with post office, the Spean Bridge Woollen Mill and the Highland Soap Company shop as well as the local ‘Commando’ bar.
